Home and Away star shares astonishing 10kg transformation

Home and Away’s Matt Evans has stunned fans and followers after sharing the results of his eight-week body transformation on social media.

The 26-year-old actor - best known for his work as Theo Poulos on the hit soap - posted two side-by-side snaps, apparently taken just two months apart, of his body at two different stages in his fitness journey.

The location was the same in both, with Evans standing in Bonds underwear in front of a door in both, with only the lighting - harsher in the ‘after’ pic - and Evans’ muscle mass and body weight changing.

“8 WEEK CHALLENGE RESULTS,” he captioned the image, before thanking his trainer, Harris Barclay.

“I did a massive bulk last year which then lasted through christmas and it was the first time I had ever weighed 90kgs in my life. I am now back at 80kgs where I like to sit.”

Evans went on to explain that his trainer had helped him come up with both a diet and training plan, and then revealed the key element that they had dropped from his regime, with Evans telling followers that it “DID NOT involve cardio.

“I just went for an occasional walk if I wanted to be more active. Harris made the diet easy to follow and all you have to do is eat the food and show up to the gym. The training program was catered to my needs with weight training. Harris also checks in fortnightly to keep you on track and is just a downright good bloke.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Matt Evans (@thisismattevans)

Evans’ friends, fans, and fellow Channel 7 personalities were primed to celebrate his progress in his comments section, with many declaring that his “hard work paid off”.

“Well done mate,” wrote Seven’s Sam Mac, who had recently undergone his own intense body transformation, “now, can I just borrow a couple of those abs. Matt Preston posts "one of the finest hacks on TikTok"

Former Masterchef judge and food critic Matt Preston has joined TikTok, and it seems people are divided on whether his presence on the platform is a good thing, or whether it’s a sign he’s “fallen from grace”.

After sharing a tutorial on how to make sweet chilli instant ramen, which he calls “one of the finest hacks on TikTok”, Preston received numerous positive comments, with one commenter saying “tonight’s dinner plans have changed. We are all having Matt’s noodle recipe for dinner!” and another saying, “I am seriously loving you being on TikTok!”

Not everyone was so complimentary, however. Several comments referenced his former role as judge on the ever-popular cooking show, with one writing, “The bloke’s really fallen from grace”, while another said, “The new judges are better than you and co ever were”.

Others wrote, “From a MasterChef judge to two-minute noodles chef, big drop”, and “That’s not good food”, while others rushed to defend him. “He could certainly find ways of building this TikTok, but wouldn’t say he’s fallen from grace just because he’s not viral. He’s a nice guy with good food,” one supporter said.

Several asked him to write down the recipe as they couldn’t follow the fast-paced video, with one person commenting, “I respect this man for bringing his cooking to TikTok, looks amazing and I’m going to make it.” Several people commented on his appearance, with one person writing, “I don’t know what he cooked, I was too busy looking at his handsome face. What a man!” while another wrote, “Your hair, sir. It is magnificent. Truly!”

Since joining the site in October, Preston has accrued nearly 50,000 followers and almost 420,000 likes.

Preston made his TikTok debut shortly after it was announced that several former Masterchef stars will be returning in 2022 for a ‘Foodies vs Favourites’ season, including season one superstar Julie Goodwin.

Image: Tiktok

Home and Away star adopts daughter's best friend

Former Home and Away heartthrob Mat Stevenson has “adopted” his transgender daughter Grace Hyland’s best friend, Belle Bambi, after she alleges her own father disowned her.

Taking to social media app TikTok, Belle revealed Stevenson had taken her into his family.

Grace shared her own clip too, applauding her father for being so accepting and understanding.

“He’s always supported me, and he wants to support Bambi, too,” Grace said.

Image: TikTok

“We’re sisters now! So, we did this!”

The adoption may not be legally binding, but it means just as much to Belle who has been a long-time family friend of Stevenson and Hyland.

Grace’s dad has been a supporter of her transition since she decided to transition at the age of 12.

Stevenson rose to fame while playing the Aussie heartthrob Adam Cameron, in Home And Away.

Image: Home and Away archives

He told The Sunday Project earlier this year that the suicide rate among transgender teenagers left him with a strong determination to make sure his daughter didn’t “become one of those statistics”.

“Sadly, in this country, we have a really high adolescent suicide rate and it’s a tragedy. Matt Damon’s unprompted confession sparks backlash from fans

Matt Damon has received criticism following his recent revelation that he didn’t see an issue with using a homophobic slur up until “months ago”.

The 50-year-old star told The Sunday Times he used “the f-slur” while “at the table” with his family, prompting one of his daughters to tell him off.

“The word that my daughter calls the ‘f-slur for a homosexual’ was commonly used when I was kid, with a different application,” he told the publication.

“I made a joke, months ago, and got a treatise from my daughter. Irish locals "protecting Matt Damon like a glorious gem"

Matt Damon has been quarantining in a tiny Irish village with his wife and children, and it seems everyone including the locals are loving it.

The Hollywood heavyweight has become one of the world’s “nicest” celebrities and while living in Ireland to wait out the coronavirus, the star says it has been a “fairy-tale”.

The US-based actor has been renting out a home in Dalkey, Ireland, on the outskirts of Dublin, since early March when he arrived with his family to finish shooting The Last Duel with Ridley Scott.

However, the star, his wife and his three younger daughters chose to stay put rather than rush home on a private jet when the world plunged into a pandemic.

While his presence in the small town was a tightly-kept secret, he was pictured taking a swim with his towel in a supermarket bag.

The sight was quickly reported to a local radio station.

“I honestly feel like I’m about to throw up … this doesn’t seem real,” said Nathan, of the Fully Charged with Graham and Nathan show.

“I don’t know if you are aware but the Dalkey people are protecting you like a glorious gem,” he said.

Damon laughed at the news and said he had “no idea” but it made him “realise how great this place was.”

“It’s incredible, this is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been. Obviously what’s going on in the world is horrible but for my family it timed out.”

The star explained that he moved there for what the family thought would be just eight weeks to shoot the movie.

He and his wife also brought teachers for their three younger children as they would be out of school.

“We’ve got what nobody else has which is actual live human beings teaching our kids. We feel guilty. We’ve got this kind of incredible set up in this place.”

“It feels a little like a fairytale here.”

The woman behind the photo of Damon explained excitedly what happened the day she bumped into him having a swim at a local beach.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Siobhan Berry (@mummycooks) on May 13, 2020 at 5:10am PDT

“We were out for a family swim and we bumped into Matt and his family. After hearing him on radio today, he obviously sees the funny side and the fact that the photo ultimately turned into one of the feel-good stories of the early summer.”

Justine Tyerman takes a walk on the wild side when she dabbles in matte after a life-time of gloss.

I’ve always been a high-gloss girl, ever since I began using lipstick at the ripe old age of six.

But recently I’ve noticed the trend for matte, especially among the young ones at the weddings I’ve attended lately.

At first I didn’t like it — I thought the effect was dull and... well... not shiny.

But after a while, the matte look grew on me, as fashions often do, and I decided it was sophisticated, dramatic and ultra-chic.

I began taking more notice of matte lipsticks, who was wearing them, where, when and why.

The world of matte lipsticks

Matte lipsticks are often worn in intense colours that look bold and striking. They make a strong statement so you need the confidence... and the outfits... to go with them.

The women wearing them seem to have the ‘out-there’ personality and wardrobe to match the matte look.

There’s a “walking on the wild side,” Hollywood siren element about them.

On the down side, matte lipsticks can look dry and powdery and accentuate the creases in the lips. They are also more difficult and time-consuming to apply correctly, requiring exfoliation of the lips to get rid of dry skin before applying . . . but then they are more long-lasting than gloss.

Gloss lippy is reflective and shiny and brings out the three-dimensionality of the lips.

It’s super easy to apply — just whack it on — but it disappears faster, even if you are not talking and eating, and needs to be reapplied more often than matte.

The overall effect of gloss is smooth, healthy-looking lips which convey a radiant, fresh, dew-kissed, outdoor, carefree look.

Having tentatively experimented with a few mattes, they certainly don’t feel as nice to wear as lip gloss which is naturally hydrating. Incidentally, I don’t advise the tentative approach — if you’ve glossed all your life like I have, a sudden change to matte does not go unnoticed, so be prepared for feedback, negative, positive and uncertain.

What does the expert say?

I decided to consult an expert on the subject.

L’Oréal Paris New Zealand makeup director Lisa Matson says: “If you are wanting to create a retro or old-Hollywood glamour look, matte is the type of lipstick the professionals use as it tends to last longer.

“The only downside for matte lipsticks is it can make dry lips look drier. I recommend exfoliating lips before application and applying lip balm to hydrate the skin.

“Gloss lipsticks, on the other hand, help to make lips look fuller, soften your make-up look, especially heavy or bold eye make-up. But beware of the colour ‘bleeding’ into fine lines... and your hair getting stuck in the gloss.”

Very good point, if you have long hair.

And just as I thought I was catching up, apparently the very latest is the nude look. And then there’s the satin effect — somewhere between matte and gloss. Maybe I’ll give that a go as a safer, less risqué intermediary step.

“The Crown” paid Prince Philip more than the Queen

You would think in this era of female empowerment, with the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements at the forefront of the minds of all in the entertainment industry, pay disparity is surely coming to an end. Well, think again.

It’s been revealed that Netflix has been paying its male lead in the hit series The Crown, Matt Smith (who plays Prince Philip), more than its female lead, Claire Foy (the Queen).

The explosive revelation came during a panel discussion about the program at the INTV Conference in Jerusalem yesterday. When asked if the series paid Foy more than Smith, producers Suzanne Mackie and Andy Harries revealed the opposite case was true.

“The producers acknowledged that [Smith] did make more due to his Doctor Who fame, but that they would rectify that for the future,” Variety reported.

“Going forward, no one gets paid more than the Queen,” Mackie added.

But is it too little too late? The Crown’s third season will be its last with Foy and Smith as its leads before an older cast replaces their roles, so Foy would only get to enjoy one season of pay parity.

If the Queen can’t get equal pay, what hope is there for the rest of us?

The Crown star Matt Smith on sexual harassment: “This happens to men, too”

From disgraced Hollywood film executive Harvey Weinstein to Australia’s Don Burke, the list of powerful men in the entertainment industry being named in sexual harassment allegations grows each day – and it’s not just women being targeted.

Matt Smith, former star of Doctor Who who is currently promoting the new season of Netflix series The Crown (in which he plays Prince Philip), admitted that he too had experienced sexual misconduct.

“The conversation shouldn’t stop at this industry just because these are ‘celebrities’ who we know about who are involved. It has to be broader,” the 35-year-old told The Telegraph Magazine.

“People in other industries have to have a platform to be heard as well. What happens to the cleaner or the lady who works in a clothes shop? That’s not to say I haven’t been objectified before by men, because I have – just like women are objectified. It is not exclusive to them. This happens to men, too.”

Smith didn’t go into details about his own experiences, but did confirm that he had met Weinstein in the past and had heard rumours of his wrongdoing, but had no idea just how deep the scandal went.

George Clooney twins make TV debut

It’s been four months since George and Amal Clooney welcomed their genetically-blessed twins into the world, and everyone is still dying to get their first glimpse. Well, now they have – sort of.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live to chat about life as a new dad, George asked the audience if they’d like to see his bubs, who he said were backstage. Of course, everyone said yes!

But the “twins” actually turned out to be Matt Damon, who has been embroiled in a hilarious, long-lasting feud with Kimmel, pushing an empty double pram and carrying a nappy bag and toys.

“I’m his manny. It’s a nanny who’s a man,” Matt said, to which Jimmy joked, “You’re not a man!”

“That’s not what your wife said,” Matt retorted.

“So based on your physique I guess you’re breast feeding the children too?” Jimmy clapped back.

“No, no, I actually just wanted them to get their nap, so I brought them to a place where they wouldn’t be woken up by laughter,” Matt cheekily replied.

See the hilarious exchange for yourself here:

When the focus was finally back on George, the star got candid about how he’s coping with first-time fatherhood, admitting he was afraid of “breaking” the twins because “they’re so small”.

“I changed diapers until yesterday. I was good at it,” he told Jimmy. “I flipped them over, I don’t care. It’s like cleaning up your dog’s poop. It’s not that big a deal. Then we introduced the children to solid food on Friday and how that goes in as a carrot and how it comes out the way it comes out is shocking.”
